Malacca will mark the 2015 New Year’s Eve celebration on a moderate scale tomorrow night at the Malacca River Square, said Chief Minister Idris Haron.

He said the countdown to the new year had been cancelled and only cultural shows would be held from 11.20pm.

“Taking into consideration that Malacca is a tourist destination, the programme is being held to welcome the tourists who have come to the city,” he said in a statement today.

Idris also said that funds would be raised for the victims of floods in several states at the event and urged the people to contribute generously.
