Perak DAP top guns Nga Kor Ming and Ngeh Koo Ham deny allegations that their plantation company is among the cause for the severe floods in Kelantan.

This comes after multiple postings by BN Facebook fan page accusing the duo of logging which led to flooding.

The cousins, who are shareholders of Upayapadu Plantations Sdn Bhd, said the flooding had occurred 65 kilometres away from the plantation which is located between Kuala Krai and Gua Musang.

"In order to clear all doubts, I would like to state that all the villages surrounding the said land were not affected by the recent flood.

"If the surrounding villages were not affected by the flood, how can the development of the said land contribute to the flood that is about 65 km away?" Ngeh, who is Perak DAP advisor and Beruas MP.

He also said that the plantation had cleaned nearby rivers to ensure smooth water flow.

Nga, who is Perak DAP chairperson, and Ngeh have also defamation case pending against Berita Harian and the New Straits Time s for reports accusing them of polluting Kelantan rivers in 2012.

Upayapadu, which they share with 100 shareholders since 2012, is only involved in replanting and not logging, he said.

It spends "tens of thousands of ringgit" annually to comply with all Department of Environment requirements, including sedimentation ponds to avoid siltation in rivers, which is among the cause of floods.

Among postings by Friends of BN include a clipping from the Perak assembly sitting on the matter and a document showing that Ngeh has a stake in a plantation company.
