The BN government’s 57 year governance record may not be spotless, but developers cannot deny that the state had helped them prosper, said Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Mansor.

"We are not a perfect government, but in the last 57 years you have all enjoyed yourselves. You have prospered, you made money and this happened because we have got a stable government.

“The key thing is we must have a stable government to achieve whatever you want to achieve,” the BN secretary-general said.

He was speaking at the Federal Territories Ministry’s flood donations handover ceremony which saw firms including Berjaya Corporations and Eco World donate a total RM5.3 million to post-flood reconstruction efforts.

In his speech, Tengku Adnan said he wants all Kuala Lumpur residents to be happy and this is why the theme for Federal Territories Day on Feb 1 is “Wilayahku Ceria”.

“We want all residents of the Federal Territories to be happy people who care for one another,” he said.

To keep developers happy he urged them to approach him or the ministry if they have problems selling their projects.

“Yes, we regulate but we are also your friend to make sure you as a developer and businessman in Kuala Lumpur will be a happy businessman,” he said.

"Maybe I look like a tyrant but I have a good heart. I’m a guy who would like to see things move."

Construction projects are "prime movers" of the economy, he said and are crucial to the nation’s well-being.
