KINIBIZ The Department of Environment (DOE) has approved the controversial Forest City project in Johor that involves 1,625 hectares of land reclamation, according to its developers Country Garden Pacific View Sdn Bhd (CGPV).

“The DoE has granted approval on its Detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (DEIA) for the proposed Forest City lsland Reclamation and Mixed Development.

“The DEIA covers the measures proposed to minimise or mitigate environmental impacts through integrated and workable solutions which are accepted by the DOE,” said Md Othman, executive director of Country Garden in a statement.

The Forest City development includes approximately 1,625ha of a man-made island almost half of the size of Putrajaya that will be raised from the Johor Straits south-west of Johor Baru, where the second link to Singapore is located.
