YOURSAY ‘Ban all tudung-clad Malay girls riding pillion with a male friend.’

Get real men, says KJ after K-Pop hug incident

Ratbatblue: There are some comments that the tudung-clad Malay girls were "molested". Wrong assumption. From available footage, it looks like they are having an enjoyable time.

It’s the so-called "religious guardians" who are squeamish. More than anything else, they appear disappointed: How can a tudung-clad Malay girl be engaged in such activity?

The very act of hugging is not vulgar or lewd; it’s show business. If these girls were taught that when wearing the tudung, certain actions were prohibited, then they could be taken to task.

Kids will be kids and at times they innocently displayed their childish sentiments. It’s the adults who are making a fuss.

The next time these types of fans should not be allowed to attend these concerts. However, please don’t ban these events. There are many non-Muslims who would like to attend them.

Balachan Cili: It looks like we are getting closer and closer to Talibanisation in this country.

Next, ban all tudung-clad Malay girls riding pillion with a male friend as there are physical contact between the two.

J Yeoh: Does Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin mean that he does not object if 'tall, dark, handsome' guys were instead hugging the girls? I read his comment and concluded that he would not mind that.

Anyway, after watching the video clips, I saw no indecency in the act of hugging. The problem is that those being hugged were girls with tudung.

I suggest for shows like that in the future, why not discourage Malay girls from attending?

Wg321: The Islamic dress code does not represent the inner Islamic values of a person.

I often see Malay girls wearing tudung hugging their boyfriends while riding pillion on their fashionable motorbikes.

I also always see tudung Malay girls wearing tight Levis jeans and baby T-shirts.

Ex-PJ: Ban all tudung girls from wearing tight jeans too.

The list goes on... maybe PM Najib Razak should set up a fashion sensibility school:

What goes best with the tudung.

I am sure Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali will have a lot to add.

Apa Ini?: I hope those girls won't get victimised by the ultras for engaging in a bit of teenage fun. Khairy, grow up.

And do what you can to dissipate any furore that will probably ensue from this. You are the youth minister, right?

Nil: Why is it taboo for the young to be kissed on the forehead and be hugged? It seems that those who are against these actions are connecting such actions to sex and romantic love.

Why are these the first things on their mind?

Negarawan: The concert organisers should have briefed the K-pop groups on the cultural do's and don'ts. Obviously this was not done.

Having said that, the girls were not molested in any way on stage. It was plain innocent hugging and kissing of the forehead but some Muslim extremists want to portray these otherwise.

KJ's statement was rather juvenile and immature, in fact bordering on cowardliness. If KJ is a real man, he should say such acerbic remarks face-to-face with the Koreans, if he dares. Please don't hide behind the media.

Multi Racial: These are teens and they will have idols. I agreed that although to many those hugging and kissing on forehead are no big deal, many conservative Muslims and even some conservative Christians will find it unacceptable.

Instead of making an issue out of this, why not just let their parents deal the matter with their children respectively. It is none of our business.

The authorities want to control everything. What we can watch, what we should dress, where we should go, what we can eat, what kind of pets we can have, etc.

Meanwhile, major isseus like corruption, personal security and drop in education standard go uncheck. What is going on?

Yours and My Malaysia: I saw the video . Come on, that was not molesting...

However, the band boys should be reprimanded if they were briefed the do's and dont's with tudung-clad girls. Were they told?

Anonymous 456327688: KJ, your party vice-president has an association with an alleged underground ‘boss’ and produced a support letter which brings disrepute to the country.

But, as Umno Youth chief, you are voiceless on this matter. So, who should get real? You or the girls?

You have a pretentious vice-president right in front of your nose. KJ, be a real ‘jantan’ (man) before you advise the girls.
