YOURSAY ‘If Rosmah had no ill-intention, so did the girls in tudung.’

Umno man defends Rosmah's 'motherly' hugs

RatBatBlue: What ulterior motive could a Korean pop star have when he hugged a Muslim girl (who won a lucky draw) on stage in front of thousands of fans?

In this case, punitive action by the religious authorities is meant to be solely against the so-called "western/yellow" culture. They have been striving for so long to ban these concerts once and for all, and now they sense a chance.

What could have happened on that stage to cause such distress? If such is the indignation of these people, please ban these concerts, but for Muslims only.

This is a multiracial country and the rights of the others have to be taken into consideration.

WeLoveDemocracy: I’m sick of Pakatan Rakyat's mentality. They can't even differentiate between what is right and what is wrong.

PM’s wife Rosmah Mansor is just like a mother, and she hugged badminton champion Lee Chong Wei (LCW) without any ill-intention.

Anonymous_1416272691: Just as Rosmah's hug was motherly, The K-Pop group member's hug was also without ill-intention and could be viewed as though he was hugging a sister... a sisterly hug.

So WeLoveDemocracy is right and it is a sick people's mentality, those who can't even differentiate between what is right and what is wrong. That's why the people retaliated and shouted "hypocrisy".

They should first take out the plank from their own eyes before trying to remove the specks from others' eyes.

Boonpou: Let us all hug anyone associated with the Federal Territories Religious Affairs Department (Jawi). Brotherly and sisterly love to Jawi. We love you all to death.

Myrights: Who is to decide one is motherly hug, when she is clearly not his mother, and then decide that the K-Pop hug is an indecent act.

By your own rationale, it should be seen as a brotherly hug. This is all so stupid, I still can't believe it has turned into such a big deal.

Fairnsquare: The hugs are motherly as far as Rosmah is concerned and brotherly as far as the K-Pop group is concerned.

Let us focus on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) that Dr Mahathir Mohamad is getting so excited about . That is more important.

Teropong Dunia: I agree with Cheras Umno chief Syed Ali Alhabshee. We could see it clearly that Rosmah has no ill-intention or harboured any feelings when she hug LCW and the Bollywood artists.

Bemman: We don't know what was going in the mind of Rosmah when she hugged the men. Perhaps the religious police can tell us.

As for the "motherly" defence, we can also claim likewise that the K-pop stars are "brothers" of all their fans and their hugs are "brotherly".

KY Jelly: When they lack of ideas, they can’t differentiate between K-Pop and the spirit of sportsmanship. This was opposition agenda to create more issues on Rosmah.

And now they start pointing out about Talibanisation and ulama. That's Pakatan’s hidden agenda.

P Dev Anand Pillai: It looks like the defenders have emerged. If the honourable first lady had no ill-intention, so do the girls in tudung.

So the bottom line is, the elite are allowed to do as they see fit whereas the common masses are made to follow strict dos and don'ts.

Unless and until the silent majority rise, nothing will change. Nevertheless, it is heartening to note that the people are speaking up. Perhaps there is hope.

Anonymous_408d: If Rosmah gave "motherly" hugs, then the K-Pop hugs were just friendly brotherly hugs. Leave it at that and stop persecuting the girls. They are young so don’t try to destroy their lives.

And all the cybertroopers here, who are trying their best to divert attention away from the subject by blaming Malaysiakini and the girls, go spend your time more usefully.

Why don't you question instead why the authorities are focusing on these girls and not far more important issues like putting their effort and energy to help the countless street kids and divorced/abandoned women who are struggling to provide for themselves and their children?

Vijay47: So when Rosmah does it, it is out of "motherly affection". Then I suppose it follows that what the K-Pop boys did was out of "brotherly love".

Gander and goose sauce and all that. Leaving that aside, I definitely do not want to be included in the 28 million that Rosmah is said to be mother to. You all know what that would make me a son of.

Doc: As one of the 28 million Malaysians who are fortunate to have Rosmah for their mother, I would like to say that I am grateful and proud to have her as my dear mother.

As a grateful son, could I ask Mother Rosmah for a measly RM1 million to start up a business.
