A Singapore blogger who questioned a court proceeding was found guilty of contempt of court today.

The post by Alex Au, 61, suggested that two judges - including the chief justice - had violated judicial independence, High Court judge Belinda Ang said. Such an accusation is considered contempt of court.

Au’s post last year speculated that a court manipulated the dates of two challenges brought against Singapore’s anti-sodomy law to allow the chief justice to hear one of them.

Also today, the court dismissed charges against another post by Au. Describing his faith in the judiciary as “limp as a flag on a windless day”, was not a contempt of court, Ang ruled.
