The Malaysia Education Blueprint for Higher Education 2015-2025 which is expected to be announced in March is, among others, aimed at transforming and uplifting the standard of higher education in the country.

The Education Ministry's higher education director-general, Prof Dr Asma Ismail, said her department was in the midst of drafting the blueprint.

"We (the ministry) are still holding dialogue sessions with stakeholders - including the public - to offer any ideas or suggestions to be included in the blueprint.

"Basically, the plan will convey the kind of graduates that we will have to produce, as well as the talent of students and the lecturers," she told reporters after launching an international conference titled 'Decolonisation, Leadership, and Knowledge Democracy in the 21st Century University' at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus in Semenyih near Putrajaya, today.

When asked on the requirement of institutes of higher learning to possess good world rankings, Asma said the issue should be looked at more holistically.

"There are many methods of ranking, not only academically, but also in terms of good discipline, that is more important," she noted.
