Phua a national security asset, PPS are gangsters

YOURSAY ‘Court challenge is right move, the police cannot abuse their powers.’

Penang challenges illegality charge on PPS

Rupert16: The Volunteer Patrol Squad (PPS) is certainly more useful to the country for national security and to assist in disaster relief than the alleged gangster, triad member and gambling kingpin to whom the home minister gave his unstinting support.

Bystander: Yes, press on even though it might appear futile at this moment. And, put this on record for future reference.

Paul Phua, an alleged high-profile fugitive, was vouched for by our very own home minister, but PPS members were arrested for helping in the day-to-day security of the state of Penang where police have often said they do have enough manpower.

Anonymous_1396929433: The police were unable to charge the PPS members and their bail was lifted. This only shows that the PPS is not an illegal organisation.

The judicial review asking for a certiorari and an order of mandamus should be allowed by the court.

So what if you get one or two of its members are drug abusers? What about the drug-related cases where our armed forces personnel are involved in?

The court challenge is the right move, the police cannot abuse their powers.

Mushiro: It is a fact that the police do not extend full and fair cooperation to Penang, Selangor and Kelantan state governments.

Because of Umno's narrow and vindictive politics, the police and the Home Ministry treated the opposition states like step-children.

The police are being misused to create problems in these states so as to create instability and bring these state governments down.

It is because of this that Penang formed the PPS, which proved to be very effective. This worried the police and Home Ministry and they arrested the PPS volunteers.

The PPS issue is a cheap and childish proxy fight by Umno to create instability in Penang.

Well Thats Fantastic: It is insane that we aren't allowed to have state police. It shows little concern for the people down at the bottom...

Court rejects intervention by five Islamic councils

Kingfisher: Another small victory in the ongoing and what many would consider unnecessary battles for fundamental human rights for all sections of the society in Malaysia.

I await the glorious day in the not-too-distant future when the war against infringement of human rights is finally won.

The Malaysian judiciary, it seems, is increasingly considering a healthy set of progressive values as enshrined in the Federal Constitution against strong and powerful sectarian demands for parochialism and backwardness in fundamental human rights.

There is, it appears, still hope for progression in Malaysia to equity in human values, rather than regression to inequity as was common in the dark and ‘absolutist’ Middle Ages.

Well Thats Fantastic: I think it is truly unreal that so much attention and effort is put towards victimising certain people when there are people who are poor, hungry, destitute and dying.

I hope everyone who stands against the rights of these fellow humans will have the opportunity to father or mother one themselves.

2Kali5: The five Islamic councils think that they are smarter than the appellant, the Negeri Sembilan government, so they want to ‘campur tangan’ (intervene).

Don't worry, whatever the outcome, it should apply nationwide.

The Analyser: Transgenders are neither a creation of God nor ‘Allah’. Their presence is a perfectly normal part of the wide distribution that affects every biological characteristic, whether it be animal or vegetable.

For you to pass the fact off "as the will of God" shows just how unprepared you are to understand your fellow men and women.

If you are compassionate enough to accept transgenders for who they are, then do so in your own right and don't pass your compassion off as an act of God. Be proud of who you are.

If you can't accept them, then go join a religion along with your fellow bigots.

ProfK: So, what are the authorities going to do with them if they continue to be transgenders? Stone them? Cane them? Put them in prison?

This is all because of their fundamental defects in their religious philosophy.

Anak JB: Transgenders are humans too. Let them live their lives.

Isana: All are Allah's creations. Who are we to judge such beautiful people. Are they a threat to society? Their lives are as precious as yours and mine.

They have a right to choose to live the life they want. Bless them.
