After months of cold shoulders, the Pakatan Rakyat secretariat has finally set a date to meet.

The secretariat’s executive secretary Shabrimi Sidek said the meeting will take place this Sunday at the PAS headquarters.

“The meeting is expected to be attended by all Pakatan top leadership and will discuss recurring issues involving the coalition.

“The secretariat believes it will strengthen the cooperation within Pakatan,” he said in a statement.

The announcement comes after PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali’s meeting with PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim this afternoon.

Things have been rocky in the coalition with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang refusing to attend meetings and DAP attacking him for it.

The two parties have been at loggerheads on several issues, prominently Kelantan-led PAS’ insistence on the hudud issue and DAP’s push for local government elections.

This has prompted speculation of a Pakatan break-up, although observers believe that Anwar’s Sodomy II verdict Feb 10 could be a galvanising factor.
