PAS Central Committee Member Khalid Samad has called on opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim to not be misled by the perception that the party’s leadersa are against him.

"I ask Anwar to not be fooled by the opinion that PAS is not in solidarity with him," Khalid said at a press conference today.

He also called on PAS leaders who are against Anwar to not view the case as a personal problem but look at the bigger picture, that it is politically-motivated.

"This is no more a personal matter of Anwar, this goes more than that. It is a question of principle like the Teoh Beng Hock and Kugan’s case.

"There is political will behind the cruel punishment meted on Anwar and this is not fair. PAS will refute any cruel actions like this," the Shah Alam MP emphasised.

Nevertheless, Khalid said he has not been invited to be part of PKR’s 'Rakyat Hakim Negara' to rally support behind its de facto leader before the final Sodomy II verdict next Tuesday.

"For now personally I have not received any invite on joining the roadshow, I have only seen advertisements on it," he said.

However, he was not too sure if the invite had been sent to the PAS Central Committee.

"I hope he (Anwar) notifies and invites PAS to join alongside him in the roadshow to show solidarity in this testing times," Khalid added.

The roadshow will be held in the states of Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu, Selangor, Perak, Malacca, Penang and Johor to show solidarity for Anwar ahead of next week’s Sodomy II decision.
