A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting incident at the house of Sarawak's Second Finance Minister Wong Soon Koh on Friday.

Sibu Police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi said the man, who has links with local secret societies, was arrested at a house in Taman Rejang, Sibu yesterday.

"The man committed violent crimes and drug offences is believed to have been hired by certain parties to commit the act.

"We expect to make more arrests and are confident of solving the case," he said after launching the 'Police Engagement' programme organised by Sibu Youth Council in Medan Mall today.

Kamal said the shooting case has nothing to do with the three shooting cases involving a massage parlour and two shopping malls.

"The shooting has nothing to do with the incidents. We are investigating the case from all angles," he added.
