The former vocalist of a 90s pop rock band, Exist, was fined RM3,500 by the Magistrate’s Court in Selayang today after he pleaded guilty to two drug charges.

Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri also ordered Ezad, whose real name is Mohd Rohaizad Mohamad Lazim, 36, to be placed under a two-year supervision.

On the first charge, for possession of a plastic packet containing 0.62g of methamphetamine at the Selayang Mall area, Selayang Utama, at 1.30pm, on Nov 19, 2014, Ezad was fined RM2,200, in default six months’ jail.

He was fined RM1,300, in default three months’ jail, for the second charge, which was inserting methamphetamine into his body at the Gombak police headquarters, at about 2.30pm on the same day.

In mitigation, Ezad, who was unrepresented, said the case had affected his singing career.
