Legendary sports commentator Hasbullah Awang died today of heart complications.
Legendary sports commentator Hasbullah Awang died today of heart complications.
Hasbullah, 63, passed away at 12.17pm at Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.
He is survived by a widow and four children.
His remains will be buried at Seksyen 32, Jalan Kebun, Shah Alam.
TV personality Rahim Razali, Malaysian Hockey Confederation vice-president Nur Azmi Ahmad, athletes and sports journalists flocked to IJN to pay respects.
Hasbullah was a caring and cheerful person, a relative who declined to be named told Malaysiakini .
"We will allways miss his sports commentaries and the loss will always be felt among us his family members."
Hasbullah started the his long media career as a radio announcer on RTM.
He became a household name through his colourful football commentaries in the 1990s.
Hasbullah parted ways with RTM in January 2014 and was part of Astro's sports channel Arena when he died.
