A police report has been lodged against Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan for being an accomplice in the act of sodomy that led to the conviction of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

The report was lodged by Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng at the Sentul police station yesterday, in which he called on the police to take action against Saiful.

In his police report, Lim pointed out that Bar Council president Christopher Leong had outlined in his press statement on Wednesday that there appeared to be anomalies in the charge against Anwar.

The article by Leong ( right ) states that through the course of the trial, it was established that there was an element of coercion made during the proceedings.

However, Anwar was charged under Sections 377A and 377B of the Penal Code, instead of Section 377C, for forced sodomy or sodomy rape.

"(Therefore), it is remarkable that Anwar has been prosecuted and convicted twice for an alleged offence of sexual acts between adults wherein the charge does not contain elements of coercion," Leong said.

On Tuesday, the Federal Court unanimously upheld Anwar's conviction and five-year jail sentence for sodomising Saiful in 2008.

The court found Saiful's evidence to be acceptable because of his ability to describe the minute details of the incident and since he stuck to his testimony under the rigours of cross-examination.
