PKR's 'overtures' won't entice Dr M, says Muhyiddin
Deputy Umno president Muhyiddin Yassin believes that Dr Mahathir Mohamad will not be moved by reported overtures from some PKR members.
Deputy Umno president Muhyiddin Yassin believes that Dr Mahathir Mohamad will not be moved by reported overtures from some PKR members.
According to Bernama , Muhyiddin said that Umno was in Mahathir's veins as he has led the party for a long time.
"Even though he is critical when it comes to certain political issues and government administration, but I believe he is a loyal Umno member.
"Maybe they (PKR members) are too desperate (to the point where) when there is no one else to turn to, they thought of Tun (Mahathir)," Muhyiddin told reporters in Bau, Sarawak today.
He was responding to a question on reports by several blogs on a group of 20 PKR members who gathered at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
The group, led by Lembah Pantai PKR division vice-head Johari Musa, had submitted a petition to urge the party's leaders to replace Anwar Ibrahim with Mahathir as de facto leader.
Anwar was jailed on Tuesday following the Federal Court's decision to unhold his conviction for sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
According to a report by Sinar Harian , Johari said there are no permanent enemies in politics, citing how Anwar was once a staunch foe of DAP and PAS, who are now his allies.
