400 students hit KL streets on Anwar's jailing

Kim Quek: A new generation of youths has arisen to carry on the torch of Reformasi lit by Anwar Ibrahim 17 years ago - and that is exactly what the student demonstration means.

Coincidentally, the current demonstration is also triggered by the jailing of Anwar on a trumped-up sodomy charge, as it did 17 years ago in Sodomy I.

Unlike the last time, the people are now ready to repossess the country from the corrupt and cruel rulers this time, as reflected in the 52 percent popular votes garnered by the Pakatan Rakyat in the 13th general election (GE13).

A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. Let today's student rally be the clarion call to all Malaysians to rise, and together, we will march resolutely towards Putrajaya to re-establish the people's ownership of the country.

Anonymous_3f4b: The Federal Court, being the highest court of the land, has made its decision. Everyone must respect it until such time the decision is reviewed. There is no further appeal, save for a pardon from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

There is no use having weekly demonstrations of the unruly and vulgar type causing disturbances in the streets and wasting time, money and energy. The youths of today are better off doing more beneficial things rather than channelling their energies on a cause that they are not clear about.

They should not be misled by politicians who only have personal interests at heart and makeg use of the people to garner sympathy for their political agenda.

If the law and judicial decisions are not respected, chaos and anarchy will ensue, with everybody suffering. The same thing will happen even if Anwar becomes prime minister and the courts under his administration make decisions against his opponents. If there are misgivings and dissatisfaction, the recourse is at the ballot box.

Jenglot: Secretary of State Kate Brown will become the first openly bisexual governor in US history next Wednesday. She has the guts to admit who she is. Anwar is still beating around the bush.

Anonymous_1423767573: Students should start a petition - aim for 100,000 signatures - to the UN Human Rights Commission - demanding the release of Anwar, apart from demonstrating. And copy that to golf partner US President Barack Obama.

Siang Malam: It is time for a new group of youths to take over - as Karpal Singh once said - you put one Karpal Singh down - 100 will rise.

Lamps: Go make us proud, youth. Your efforts against this cruel regime will be fruitful.

LIEW LEAN KUT: Next week let it be 400 x 1,000. This is the time of the youth in Malaysia. Make this Saturday a starting point not, only in Kuala Lumpur but all over Malaysia.

Flyingeagle: Students, keep the candles burning. We, the Malaysians are with you, though we are not physically with you. Let us pray that the spirit of Altantuya is roaming and disturbing the peace of the criminals in arms. May the Almighty protect the students from harm from the corrupt authorities.

Domcr2001: Organise better demonstrations. Be prepared for retaliation from the forces. Enough talk. Build massive support. Governments have been overthrown by student discontent.

JD Lovrenciear: The blame is not on Anwar. The source or root cause lies in the architect/s of sodomy. They split the nation's rakyat permanently.

Somehow Pak Lah had the wisdom to do damage control. He made mends to the fence by seeing to the release of Anwar Ibrahim and patching the long overdue hurt on Tun Salleh Abas.

But others did not like it. And Sodomy II was force-born. Today, we see the anger in the hearts of the rakyat. How many do we want to jail? How many Twitter warnings and arrest notices will we witness?

Even BN die-hards know too well from history that the fight for justice was never snuffed through intimidation and cannon balls of laws.

Tan Kim Keong: You students make the rakyat proud. Rest assured we are with you.

Swot: Who can the majority 52 percent people turn to, or just watch their leader in jail? They perceive many blatant injustices happening: Altantuya, Kugan, Teoh Beng Hock, Anwar, and many others.

It is just the beginning by the students and it will be a time bomb if Anwar is not released soon.

A responsible government should be afraid of the people, and not the other way round. A famous quote by Thomas Jefferson: "When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty".

Anwar is the leader of the 52 percent majority peace-loving people, who will definitely rise to challenge and demand for more changes in the government, perceived to be filled with filth in the judiciary, police and security, that help in propagating the injustices.

Even former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad could sense so many things going wrong with the current regime. Will they listen to their boss, the majority, who have entrusted them to uphold in serving justice and good governance, or continue to threaten the majority of people instead?

AkuBangsaMalaysia: Students must study first and only make demonstrations after they graduate.

Malaysia Truly Asia: Born losers. While they do all these to 'syok sendiri', Anwar is warming his jail cell for a long haul. These students should know many of their friends and also Anwar's kids were beneficiaries of the system and got themselves an education.

Malaysian54: 17 years ago at the age of 44 till now, some of us have been at it. Now the students should take it up. There is nothing wrong if the seniors don't turn up, as we cannot run as fast as you guys.

Anonymous_1421983529: Gather momentum and have a nationwide march to protest against the Federal Court decision to convict and incarcerate our dearest Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim. It was certainly done on the evil directive of the evil personality - the one who ordered the erasure of the entry records of the Mongolian beauty into the country.

Malaysians assert that Anwar is an innocent soul. And Mr Evil Personified is the culprit. The protest has to go on until Anwar is freed. He does not have to seek a royal pardon either, as he never committed the offence at all.

Axolotl: Those who continue to earn a salary with the Special Branch, even though there is no longer any threat to national security - except to Umno's political hegemony - ought to take a good hard look at themselves in the mirror. Are you proud of what you are doing?

Would your grandchildren be proud of how you supported a cruel, despotic, corrupt and utterly evil regime?
