The Works Ministry is to refer to the cabinet the decision of the Selangor government to cancel the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) project.
Minister Fadillah Yusof said this was aimed at seeking a solution to the issue.
“The Works Ministry feels the issue has to be resolved through discussions with all quarters to arrive at the best solution for the good of the people,” he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur.
Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali announced the cancellation of the project yesterday, saying the concessionaire, Kidex Sdn Bhd, had failed to fulfil three special conditions set by the state government by the deadline last Saturday.
These were preparing the independent traffic, social impact and environmental impact assessments to prove that the project would benefit not only road users but also those living along the alignment, as well as the negatives of the project.
The 26.1-km highway was projected to start from the New Klang Valley Expressway toll above the Sprint Highway at the Damansara interchange and end at the Damansara-Puchong Highway at Bandar Kinrara Section 2.
