Youth secretary Nor Hizwan Ahmad (left) said he was 'amazed' over Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin's pledge to embark on a nationwide tour to 'explain' the Sodomy II ruling to the public.
“(PKR Youth) will not sit by idly and allow this disgusting tour to take place. Hence, we challenge Umno Youth to sit on the same stage with us before the public and debate with factual information,” he said in a statement today.
He said this will allow the people to judge for themselves between truth and defamation.
Yesterday, Khairy, speaking at Umno Youth's Akademi Kepimpinan Kapten Hussein's (Akhi) forum in Kelana Jaya, said BN would speak up and fight against the allegations of political conspiracy levelled against them by Anwar and Pakatan Rakyat.
'Don't hide behind rank'
Khairy said BN had kept quiet for far too long despite accusations of political intervention to prosecute Anwar.
The case against Anwar concluded on Feb 10 after seven years of court trials.
Nor Hizwan added that he was 'impressed' at Umno Youth's 'eager' spirit to defend a damaged judicial system which had received heavy criticism from a majority of Malaysians as well as international observers.
He said the involvement of lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah ( right )- lead prosecutor in Anwar's trial - in Umno Youth's roadshow, only strengthened the assumption that there was a grand design and conspiracy to end Anwar's political career.
“If there is a tinge of bravery in these Umno youths, then don't hide behind power and rank. Come and have a debate with us. This nation will be the law chambers and the people will be the judges,” he said.
