Twenty-one next-of-kin of victims on board the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 yesterday gathered in front of the Perdana Putra Building here to hand over a memorandum to Prime Minister Najib Razak.

 

Saiful Azhar, the private secretary to the Prime Minister's special officer, represented the prime minister in meeting with the group who wore red T-shirts carrying slogans 'Pray for MH370', and later received the memorandum.

 

The group's representative, Li Er You said the memorandum had, among others, requested the government not to declare the flight as missing and all of its passengers and crew dead, until there was concrete proof.

 

The Boeing 777 aircraft which was carrying 12 crew members and 227 passengers disappeared from radars during its flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, around an hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 12.41am on March 8 last year.

 

On Jan 29, Malaysia's Department of Civil Aviation declared the incident as an accident based on international flight regulations, and presumed all 230 people on board the flight to be dead.
