MCA Youth will write to Sinar Harian to officially request it discontinues ties with controversial columnist Mohd Ridhuan Tee Abdullah.

In a text message to Malaysiakini , the party's youth chief Chong Sin Woon said the a letter will most probably be written after the Chinese New Year celebrations.

“Yes, I will write in to express our views and hope Sinar Harian will consider,” he said when asked if an official complaint will be lodged with the daily.

In his latest column in Sinar Harian , Mohd Ridhuan ( left ) said a woman who is sexually assaulted is to blame if she does not observe the aurat .

He said this in his article published on Feb 16 titled ' Bila si jahil bercakap ' (When the ignorant speaks).

A woman's body is different to that of a man's, Tee said, so by “exposing and flaunting” it, men will be unable to control their lust which in turn would cause them to commit rape.

“The logic is simple. A woman's body is attractive and arousing. Of course, covering up is does not guarantee a woman will not get raped. A rapist does not choose his victim.

“Our religion preaches prevention so if a modestly dressed woman is raped, then it is fate,” he wrote.

Malaysiakini has contacted Sinar Harian and is awaiting its response.

In response to the column, MCA Youth condemned Mohd Ridhuan's logic and urged Sinar to stop giving him space to pen “his bigoted, prejudiced and now misogynistic, destructive and divisive garbage.”

“Irrespective of how a woman is attired, there is no excuse whatsoever for men to be in failure to control their emotions and physique and then rape a woman,” Chong ( left in photo above ) said in a statement.

Calling Mohd Ridhuan “a species which should be ignored”, he said the man is completely belittling the trauma a rape victim has to endure.

“While Ridhuan Tee wants to blame attire and confine rape to women, he ignores other factors involving rape – paedophiles who prey on minor children, in particular those who have not even reached puberty," he said.
