Probe, IGP! It may be from the horse's mouth
IGP: DAP report on Sirul based on hearsay
Lim Chong Leong: If the court disregards hearsay evidence, I can accept because it is in the business of finding out the truth.
But for the police to disregard hearsay at the onset of an investigation is totally outrageous because it is their job to investigate. If all police reports are based on solid evidence and proven facts, then we won’t need police investigators anymore.
Wira: Hearsay? It could potentially be from the horse's mouth. Go investigate.
Speaking Sense: Good criminal investigation is to follow up any lead or link and then try and tie them all up to solve the case.
What any police investigation worth its salt will never do is to dismiss any lead off-hand; that is arrogance and laziness, not good police work. But then, this is Bolehland.
Boonpou: Don't you love it? Insufficient grounds equals any report deemed to be tarnishing the reputation of the ruling regime. Gotta love his kind of response. Long live Barisan Nasional. See you soon, in the next general election.
CHKS: What if I say, your claim that the report is based on hearsay, is hearsay? On what basis are you saying it is based on hearsay?
The claim is from the person convicted of the crime itself, the very person who was found guilty of committing the act. How can it be based on hearsay?
Victor Johan: Mr Tweeter inspector-general of police (IGP), a police report has been lodged and now it's the duty of the police to investigate the report. If it's a false report, take it up with the person who lodged the report.
But before you make any claims that the report is wrong and made merely on hearsay, you have to conduct the investigations to substantiate your claims. Isn't it that simple and straight forward? What are you waiting for? More reports to be lodged, and some against you as well?
RCZ: Did we really think that the police will investigate this? Of course not. There will be many more excuses for why the murder will not be investigated. Malaysians, wake up and change the government so we can have real policemen and not Twitter kings.
Mushiro: The people have lost their confidence in the police ability to conduct a fair investigation into the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder. Top people are involved. The judiciary is also not capable of judging this high profile case for the same reasons.
Like how the Sodomy II prosecution was contracted out to Shafee, since the Attorney-General's Chambers has no capability, the investigation and the judiciary of this Altantuya murder also have to be sub-contracted out for a real solution.
Supercession: Yes, let's bury all incriminating evidence, in case...
Kangkung: When it comes to covering for his boss, the most efficient IGP has section after section to quote to excuse himself from doing anything. When it concerns the head of Umno, it is "mere allegations". Why is he not sending a team to record what (convicted killer) Sirul Azhar Umar has to say?
Caripasal: Everyone in the police force knows that Sirul acted on his superior's order, but the IGP claims that this is hearsay. Policemen can now ignore their superior's instruction, or they will probably be the next Sirul.
Moonraker: Ha Ha Ha! The IGP should provide the comic entertainment at the next conference dinner of Interpol. This is the IGP who tweets his threats against dissenters and critics of official wrongdoing.
But he needs a police report against the racist (Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister) Ismail Sabri Yaakob before investigations can be commenced. Despite that racist having threatened national security and the peace of the community.
Look at how readily the police arrest people. A lorry driver reports the hijacking of his lorry and he is arrested and locked up on suspicion of having made a false report. No, no. Not to cough up a bribe for his freedom, right?
There are people who have complained of wrongful arrests and impounding of properties and then of demands by the police for bribes in exchange for their freedom and the return of their properties.
Well That's Fantastic: It seems to me like the IGP doesn't want to do anything, always finding another reason not to, instead of looking for reasons to act.
And remember that DAP parliamentarian Teresa Kok got arrested for her own "protection". What remedy do the public have? When many deaths in police custody have still not been inquired into by the court, as required by law?
What4: What about reports by Isma and Perkasa and pro-Umno NGOs? You immediately took action. All are also hearsay.
Anak JB: Khalid, stop being an apologist. Investigate the motive; don't just hang the messengers. Go and find out who is behind this. Also, find out how these people can get hold of weapons-grade plastic explosives.
Sabahan: Yes, the people understand. Every statement by the opposition is hearsay, every statement against the opposition is rock solid truth.
My Opinion: The exception of hearsay applies here. Together with "utter rubbish' as circumstantial evidence, it is more than prima facie evidence to open an investigation.
