IGP, leave no stone unturned in Altantuya case

YOURSAY ‘Right now he is just the Twitter hound dog for BN-Umno.’

Mahfuz raps IGP for discounting Sirul's claim

Negarawan: Are ex-chief inspector Azilah Hadri's cell and bed much more comfortable than Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim's?

The two canaries have to be fed well so that they do not sing. By the time Mahfuz reaches Australia, Sirul Azhar Umar would have probably received a great Malaysian "hospitality and reward package" from the alleged mastermind or masterminds to shut him up.

Remember, Azilah and Sirul are cold-blooded mercenaries and will do anything for money.

Is Sirul's escape to Australia another case of negligence by the powers-that-be, or was it planned?

The latter is more likely, for it is more consistent with the overall questionable handling of this case.

VinceLim: Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar is not discounting Sirul's statement, but the law needs proof to do that.

Real Truth: This case is very simple. Now facing death, Sirul wants to reveal that he acted on order from his superiors to kill the Mongolian who was a friend of one Abdul Razak Baginda, who was a friend of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Sirul did not deny he killed the Mongolian and blew her up with military-grade explosives, which are only available to the Defence Ministry. Now, many questions arise. How did they get the explosives?

Sirul says he was ordered by his superiors, who were not questioned in court. We will be doing injustice if we do not provide Sirul the right to disclose any information that may clear him from gallows.

The responses from the PM and the IGP are duty bound to uphold the legal system of our country. Unfortunately, the people who are trusted with keeping law and order are responding very negatively.

Rupert16: The IGP is not even fit to be a policeman in the first place. Right now he is just the Twitter hound dog for BN-Umno

FellowMalaysian: It looks like Mahfuz Omar is the only person from PAS who is compassionate enough to look into Sirul's plight. He is assisting Sirul's mother to meet up with her son in Australia.

Mahfuz is now arranging this press conference with Sirul for him to make peace with himself, and hopefully, it could also help to answer our country's biggest murder case - which is now putting the entire nation in a spin.

Mahfuz, with the blessings of the Almighty, may you meet with success come this Monday morning.

Every Malaysian, who is concerned with the dire situation our country has fallen into since the politically-motivated jailing of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, condemns injustice and that includes sending Sirul to the gallows without knowing who ordered him to kill Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Malaysia Truly Asia: Mahfuz, you really sound so silly. I mean, the trial is over, everything was said and evidence given.

Sirul was given his chance and one cannot say he did not want to take it for fear, as the consequence was death. And, that was what happened.

The other guy, Azilah, did not run, but Sirul did. And, if that does not say he is guilty, then I do not know what is.

Indeed, the guy who did not run deserve a pardon and his death sentence be commuted to life imprisonment. I am pretty certain he will get it.

Anonymous_4056: Malaysians from all walks of life should give thanks to Allah for a God-fearing political party like PAS to take up the unfinished case of the murder of Altantuya.

Knowing that the real murderer, or murderers, is running free from this gruesome crime is very frustrating. Justice must be done, and no stone should be left unturned.

Once again, we salute PAS for taking up this case on humanitarian grounds.

Odin: Mahfuz, by virtue of your age and your position in the PAS as well as the main responsibility that the position demands of you, you should be a wise enough person.

That being the case, you would, in my very humble opinion, agree that Sirul ought to end this charade by revealing what he has said he would, and if he still tries to keep everyone on tenterhooks to disassociate yourself and your party from him.

In vacillating, he has aroused suspicion of his real intent when he announced that he would expose what until now is unknown to us, and for that he has earned for himself nothing but scorn.

Monty: No matter how one looks at this case, there are many questions left unanswered.

I think that now Sirul is in safe custody, away from intimidating forces, we may finally get those questions answered. And, hopefully, justice for Altantuya.

The IGP should be more enthusiastic in this murder case and remember that he is serving the king and country.

Vijay47: Let's say a woman's body is found in some bushes near a housing estate and the police have no idea who murdered her.

Some time later a man, the woman's husband, tells me that he is the one who killed her. I inform the police what the man told me. But the IGP will hold that this is hearsay and will not investigate unless the man confesses to them directly?

Fortunately for me, my housing area is guarded by Nepalese security men, not the police.
