The Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) wants winnable candidates to represent BN in the coming 11th state election to be picked from among its component parties.

SPDP president, Tiong King Sing stressed that this was enshrined in the understanding between BN component parties in Sarawak.

"Candidates must only be from among the BN component parties, not from parties outside the coalition," he told reporters at the 2015 Chinese New Year Open House organised by Central Region SPDP at Dewan Suarah here, today. About 5,000 people attended the event from 9am to 12 noon.

Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem recently said the state BN might also nominate winnable candidates from among BN-friendly parties, namely, Parti Rakyat Bersatu (UPP) and Parti Tenaga Sarawak (Teras)in the coming state election.

Meanwhile, Tiong expressed his delight at the encouraging response from the local populace towards the function.

“This is the first time we are holding a Chinese New Year open house in Sibu. We will hold it at a more suitable venue next year so that more people can come," he added.
