Deputy dean defends anti-LGBT pamphlets

Homosexuals are at 18 times more at risk of getting the (HIV) virus," said Rafidah Hanim Mokhtar, deputy dean (academic and research) of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia’s (Usim) medicine and health science faculty,

 

It is obviously a fallacy to think that "belakang mari" (BM) is confined to homosexuals only and not practised by heterogeneous couples.

 

If so, why is there a suggestion that a homosexual is 18 times more likely to get HIV than a (heterogeneous) male who engages in 'BM' with the same frequency as a homo?

 

The "18 times more likely" statistic probably compares a homosexual male to a heterogeneous male who does not engage in BM activity.

 

My point, if there is likely to be no difference between a homosexual and a heterosexual who engages in BM, why focus on the homosexuals when both are just as likely to be infected or infectious?

 

This is a clear case of the use of statistics being abused.

How about showing us the results of studies conducted by respected institutions of learning or research bodies to substantiate the first (people cannot be born gay), and details of medical treatments and of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders’ (LGBT) who have been returned to being 'normal' men and women?

 

Rick Teo: Rafidah, you are so ignorant to even realise that homosexuality is not only confined to men. Women also engage in lesbianism because they are also capable of loving their own kind.

Nobody is actively persecuting them but they want more than that. They want to get married with marriage certificates included and they want to have children too though they know such unions will not result in procreation.

 

The problem with the society at large is that if such unions are widely accepted, our children may view that such unions are norm rather than exceptions, and sooner or later there will be significant number of gays that our population will decrease tremendously and consequently all economic activities will be severely affected.

 

Fairperson: Deputy dean Rafidah, do you acknowledge the existence of homosexuals in this world? Do you believe that they to have their way of life which to you is abnormal and to them is normal?

 

Do you think they too are children of God? If you say yes to this then, you should find a solution to reduce Aids through education and regulation rather than condemn the whole group and consider them as aliens and as though have no place on this world.

 

They are not homosexuals because they chose to be, but are made as such from birth. Homosexual tendency is similar to heterosexual tendency although less in number.

 

Don't bring in religion to support your argument. Live and let live. Homosexuals are not mentally retarded. They are normal in all aspects except they prefer same sex when it comes to physical needs.

Good, can Jakim now go and fix this problem since it knows how to do so. Rafidah, can head the group. Wrong, it is not a man's problem alone, since women give birth to homosexuals.

 

Senior: Are there no other way to prevent Aids other than pick on homosexuals?
