Police released activist Adam Adli Abdul Halim and PKR supreme council member Fariz Musa today after keeping the duo overnight at the Jinjang lock-up.

They were arrested at the Kita Lawan rally in solidarity with jailed Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

"Adam and Fariz to be released at 10am. No remand application," their lawyer Michelle Yesudas said on Facebook .

Yesudas accompanied the duo last night when their statements were taken at about 11.30pm.

Adam and Fariz were held under under Section 143 of the Penal Code which deals with illegal assembly.

Police erected barricades in front of the police station last night to stop a group of about 30 supporters who had gathered to hold a solidarity vigil, from entering the station.

Lawyers Yesudas and New Sin Yew were allowed in two hours after requesting to see their clients.

The duo were arrested for organising an earlier Kita Lawan rally on Feb 14. Adam Adli was also arrested for a speech he made at the rally.

Police had attempted to arrest PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad for the same but he was pulled away by his supporters.

Nik Nazmi, who was present at the vigil in Jinjang, condemned the arrests and urged all to join the mega rally in Kuala Lumpur on March 7.

Also at the vigil was PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and PKR Youth strategic director Akmar Nasir.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar earlier warned that police will be taking action on those organising and participating in the pro-Anwar demonstrations.
