DAP's secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and central executive committee member Lim Kit Siang should quit if PAS succeeds in implementing hudud in Kelantan, said Gerakan Youth.

The movement's leader Tan Keng Liang said the duo had persuaded non-Muslim voters to back PAS on the premise that PAS is for all Malaysians and would not implement hudud.

In view of the Kelantan government's plans to table a bill that will facilitate the implementation of hudud, Tan said Guan Eng and Kit Siang now owes the public an apology.

"DAP's top leaders should be made accountable once the (bill) is tabled next month," said Tan in a press statement.

The tabling of the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code (II) 2015 amendment bill is scheduled to happen on March 18.

This means that the tabling will occur during the Chempaka by-election campaign. Voters in Chempaka will go to the polls on March 22.

Gobind: What briefing?

In another development, DAP's legal bureau chief Gobind Singh Deo has denied PAS' claims that PAS had briefed DAP of its plans to implement hudud law back in 2011.

"Let me be very clear about it. PAS has never shown us or briefed us about the details of the hudud bill they intend to table in Kelantan, nor the private members bill they intend to table in Parliament to make way for hudud in the months to come.

"In fact, PAS even refused a request by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim that a copy of the bill be shown to us about a month ago," said Gobind.

Gobind said the matter was only raised briefly by PAS leaders during the last Pakatan leadership council meeting two weeks ago where party leaders agreed to disagree on the matter, promising to deliberate on it another time.

"(Agreeding to disagree) certainly does not allow for any one party to unilaterally push ahead with any agenda outside the substance of the framework without the consensus of all parties beforehand.

"If that be the case, then the common policy framework looses its significance and value and becomes a non-starter," he added.
