Religious disputes in schools continue to rankle

YOURSAY ‘Non-Muslim parents may stop sending their children to gov’t schools.’

Muslim boy 'forced' to lodge report against dad

Anonymous_1421406986: This alleged incident only means one thing - those who want to "conscript" followers to a religion are insensitive and disrespectful of the feelings of parents or guardians and their religion of origin.

This is a second case involving such teachers - one in East Malaysia and one in Peninsular Malaysia.

If this trend is not checked, non-Muslim parents may stop sending their children to government schools. The education minister must take responsibility and start investigating these two incidences.

Not Confused: Such cases are why national schools are falling out of favour with non-Muslim parents.

It has nothing to do with quality of education (which is a euphemism for 'Islamisation') and everything to do with the fact that all state institutions in Malaysia are being radicalised and 'Islamised'.

Only in name are they 'national' schools. In fact, there are fears that they are centres for the propagation of Islam and for forcing children to become 'Muslims' against their own wishes and that of their parents.

Without this type of nonsense, there would be no issue with a single-school system in Malaysia.

Indeed, these reprobate teachers have committed a disgusting act. They should be fired immediately and legal action taken against them for wrongful imprisonment of the boy.

I'm afraid this kind of thing just demonstrates clearly how Muslims in Malaysia are slowly losing their way.

That they feel it necessary to harass a young boy like this shows that they are obviously terrified of losing converts and do whatever they can to hang on to those who may have lost faith in Islam.

Gggg: Do these people ever think about family bond and the love between father and son before being so zealous in protecting the sanctity of the religion?

Religion is supposed to bring happiness, not hardship and trouble among one’s own blood.

Guns 'n' Roses: Why are these people so desperate to increase the Muslim population in this country? If your religion is good and acceptable to the people, you do not need to compel or force anyone to embrace it.

At this point in time, however, what is the general impression of the non-Muslims of Islam as a religion?

Anonymous #20513663: Guns 'n' Roses, it's very simple.

1. Once Muslim, you can become Malay. This provides a new recruitment possibility for Umno, a 'pure Malay' party.

2. The more Muslims you have, the more you can 'longgarkan' human rights standards.

You can clearly see that ‘Muslim’ countries are not held to the same human rights standards as 'normal' countries by the international community.

This is why Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein is going around saying “we are not as bad as ISIS (Islamic State)”. He is cashing in on the double standard.

3. Once you are Muslim you can be charged in the Syariah Court with 'blasphemy', 'insulting Islam', etc. Just like Kassim Ahmad. It's a kind of 'super-Sedition Act'.

Except, guess what, when people ‘kena’ sedition, the whole world makes noise about it. But when people ‘kena’ blasphemy, nobody in the world cares.

So, if you are Muslim, you can be oppressed by the government and nobody will fight for you. That's three very good reasons Umno would want everyone in the country to be Muslim.

Fightforjustice: Why these people don’t learn... don’t get involved with Muslims.

Anonymous #20513663: Fightforjustice, sorry, but people should be allowed to marry whomever they want. Your reaction is exactly what Umno wants. It's part of their game of divide and rule.

If more and more people think like you, they will succeed in creating two 'camps' in Malaysia: Muslims (on paper) versus non-Muslims (on paper).

They can make the two camps fight and continue to rule. We must instead fight for interfaith marriages to be given full recognition without any conversion required.

We must also fight for freedom of religion for all Malaysians, regardless of what religion they were 'born with'.

We must fight against the fact that at the moment the government 'chooses' the religion of most of Malaysia's citizens. Everyone must be free to choose their own religion.

Multi Racial: Those in power should step up and order those working for authorities and government services to stop this nonsense. If this continues it will only affect Islam image negatively.

Our constitution allows freedom of religion. All parties should ensure the right of the people under our constitution prevails regardless of their personal belief.

Anonymous_4196: Force conversion and deceptive conversion is not real conversation. God doesn’t need this to spoil His good Name.

Let every conversion be genuine between the person and God.
