DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang to emulate the late Karpal Singh in opposing the proposed hudud law, MCA said.

Lim should "show some guts" to deal with PAS instead of questioning if MCA and Gerakan presidents would resign over Kelantan Umno's decision to support PAS, MCA national organising secretary Yoo Wei How said.

"In the name of national interest, Lim as a seasoned politician should be man enough to emulate Karpal (below) to categorically oppose to the controversial laws, even if that meant offending fellow Pakatan partner PAS," Yoo said in a statement today.

He said Lim should not be "frightened" of PAS and care more the people’s welfare which will be compromised by the hudud, he said.

"All along, DAP had been window-dressing up for PAS by portraying the Islamist party as a progressive entity that had abandoned its original goal of establishing a hardline state based on religious criminal code," he pointed.

Karpal was the only DAP leader who dared to oppose the hudud while Lim and Guan Eng are "playing hide and seek" on the issue, he said.

The Kelantan government plans to table its Syariah Criminal Code (II) 2015 amendment bill which will facilitate the implementation of hudud on Mar 18.
