"If PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang wants to try his luck and form a unity government with Umno, please do it soon so that the rest of us can carry on our struggles for a better Malaysia."

The rift among the Pakatan Rakyat allies went a notch higher today with these words publicly uttered  by Penang PKR Youth.

The wing wants Hadi to come clean on speculation that PAS plans to launch a unity government with its arch rival Umno.

State PKR deputy chief Khairil Anuar Kamarudin urged Hadi to release an official statement on the matter to appease the minds of Pakatan supporters.

"We believe all Malaysians, especially supporters of Pakatan Rakyat, are waiting for Hadi's official reply on the matter," Khairil ( left ) said at a press conference in Komtar today.

"Do not dilly dally. Clarify the truth of the matter, whether PAS intends to be fully committed to the common policies it has agreed with DAP and PKR," he added.

Khairil was referring to statements from several quarters, including Perlis mufti Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, who urged PAS to form a unity government with Umno to enhance Muslim unity.

However, PAS vice-president Husam Musa has said Muslim unity, and by extension, a unity government, was not possible if the scandals involving federal-funded investment company 1Malaysia Development Bhd and the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu are unresolved.

PKR remains sore with Hadi for not supporting the party's bid to replace former Selangor Menteri Besar with party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Hadi's disagreement with PKR and DAP over the Selangor crisis led to the state ruler intervening in the matter, with the sultan subsequently appointing PKR deputy chief Azmin Ali as the new menteri besar.

Remember when PAS was with BN?

Khairil reminded PAS of its failure when the party was in BN from 1973 to 1977.

He also reminded Hadi of his failure to defend Terengganu when he was menteri besar from 1999 to 2004, and the party's failure to extend its one-term hold in the Kedah government in the 2013 general election.

Hadi also failed to prevent a three-cornered fight in Sungai Acheh, Penang, in 2013 where the party contested the seat with PKR and Umno although, it withdrew its candidate at the eleventh hour, Khairil recalled.

"These unfortunate events all took place during Hadi's rule as PAS president," Khairil said.

He said Hadi should relinquish his post as PAS president and allow others to take over the helm of the party if he had health problems.

"As an ulama, Hadi ought to know better the value of a struggle to demand for justice and fight cruelty," he said.

"After fighting Umno for so long, it seems that Hadi now wants to appear as a hero to rescue the ailing BN and Umno."
