Zunar plans to present the Prime Minister's wife Rosmah Mansor with an autographed copy of his 17th book of political cartoons as a token of appreciation.
He plans to relaunch it on Saturday in Brickfields behind the YMCA there.
Titled ‘ROS in Kangkung Land’ (RIKL) he says it was inspired by his muse, Rosmah, which he dubbed to be “more dominant and powerful” than her husband, Najib Abdul Razak.
“Cartoon-wise, I am very impressed with her. Each time she opens her mouth, I get an idea. So much so, this book is especially dedicated to her. And I will present her an autographed copy to show my gratitude,” he said in a statement today.
“I cannot survive as a cartoonist if I depend on her husband alone,” quipped the cartoonist whose office has been raided on numerous occasions.
Zunar, or also known as Zulkiflee Anwar Ulhaq pointed out the book was supposed to have been launched on Valentine's Day this year, but unfortunately copies were confiscated by police from a lorry en route to the launch site.
He added the books will not be sold in any bookstore due to pressure from the government. They can be purchased at www.zunar.my .
RIKL features a collection of more than 140 cartoons that touch on current issues and personalities such as the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu, the Sedition Act, shopping and golfing by Najib and his wife, jailed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, and the GST.
Previously, seven of his titles were banned by the government on the grounds that the contents were “detrimental to public order”, while his other books 'Cartoon-O-Phobia' and 'Conspiracy to Imprison Anwar' are being investigated under the Sedition Act.
