Pertubuhan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia (PasMa) does not have a hand in the internal crisis in PAS, said its president Phahrolrazi Zawawi.

Phahrolrazi said the attempt to oust PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was not something that is practiced in PAS, Sinar Harian reported today.

“This is not the culture of PAS. Attempting to oust Hadi is something out of the ordinary,” he said.

He was responding to claims that there were quarters who wish to overthrow Hadi as president.

Such claims surfaced when a recording purportedly of PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu ( right ) planning to topple Hadi appeared on several blogs.

The audioclip ostensibly contains Mohamad's voice and him stating that he was making efforts to neutralise Hadi's influence among grassroots.

Meanwhile, Phahrolrazi said PAsMa will not field a candidate in the Chempaka by-election.

“We will not contest in the by-election as we are registered as an NGO and not as a political party.

“So no PasMa member can contest on our ticket unless they want to contest as an independent,” he said.

PasMa is a pro-Pakatan NGO comprising of PAS members. The NGO was formed to counter groups within PAS who are against cooperation with DAP and PKR.

Nomination day for the Chempaka by-election is set on March 10. The by-election comes after the death of its assemblyperson, PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
