An Umno division leader has lambasted PAS vice-president Husam Musa for urging Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to relinquish the finance minister portfolio.

In a hard-hitting statement this evening, Syed Ali Alhabhee told PAS to focus on its internal woes before poking its nose into Umno.

"Look at your own weaknesses and don't be stupid in pushing for Najib to resign as finance minister," he said.

Husam had filed a police report against the 1Malaysia Development Berhad this afternoon and called on Najib to step down pending the investigation.

He also wanted the prime minister to step down as chair of 1MDB's advisory board until the matter is resolved.

However, the Cheras Umno division chief said Umno has its own formulas to overcome its problems and does not require PAS' intervention.

Syed Ali said Najib has already assured that there would be no cover up regarding 1MDB.

"I find it strange that PAS leaders harbour such ill feelings towards Umno leaders. Don't PAS leaders have anything else to do than find fault with Umno?

"Everybody knows PAS is suffering from a chronic problem involving its deputy president (Mohamad Sabu) and others who want to topple the president (Abdul Hadi Awang)," he added.

Therefore, Syed Ali did not discount the possibility that Husam filed the police report on 1MDB to distract attention from the imbroglio in PAS.

"Let me stress to Husam that the Umno leadership would never bow to pressure from PAS and Najib would not resign just because of a PAS leader like Husam who is bankrupt of ideas," he said.
