Najib, Malays will survive with or without Umno
YOURSAY ‘Still destitute after 58 years of Umno rule? Not very complimentary.’
Najib: Malays will be destitute without Umno
SSDhaliwal: PM Najib Razak, it’s too little too late to save your job. The same fear-mongering tactics will not save your hide this time.
On the contrary, the Malays will for once be truly free without Umno and its vengeful politics of ‘either you are with me or against me’ and those who conform are rewarded with contracts and perks of high office while those that ply their trade with integrity are given the shaft.
Take a good look on the ground and not from the comforts of your homes - go to the PPR (People's Housing Projects) flats and rural Malay heartlands, including that of East Malaysians bumiputeras, and tell them that their "success" is due to Umno's 57 years wonderful rule.
Umno's trick of divide and rule does not work anymore as the Malays have realised that Umno only rewards those within their inner circle and does not represent the common Malay man.
This same old rhetoric is nothing but a desperate plea from a man who has the sword of Damocles dangling over his head.
Turvy: To say the Malays will be destitute without Umno is the supreme insult. To think that the people will fall for this bland, overused line to prop Umno’s eroding power shows how lost the party is.
This nation has no leadership, no direction, and no vision on which the young can build a future for themselves. We killed everything of value and the plundering continues.
The new politics will be nothing more than new schemes to outsmart the people who are armed now with more information and a better education.
RSOH: Everyone knows that’s not true (that Malays will be destitute without Umno). Malays are very resourceful and they'll find a way; with or without Umno.
That was an incredibly narcissistic thing for Najib to say. We want a humble and down-to-earth leader; not one that toots his own horn all the time.
Thinking citizen_1403620863: The truth is that the majority of the Malays will be better well off without Umno and the cronies of Umno will be destitute without Umno.
Malaysia Ku: Najib got it totally wrong. It is because of Umno that the majority of Malays are kept destitute.
If the hundreds of billions of ringgit frittered away by Umno leaders and their cronies are distributed not only among the poorer Malays, but all citizens alike, Malaysia would have been a fully-developed First World nation.
Swipenter: Ironically, it is Umno Baru, the self-styled champion of the Malays, which is impoverishing the Malays. They throw crumbs to the Malay mass whilst they rob, steal and siphon billions of ringgit from the national coffers. Buy assets overseas and park the excess cash overseas.
Do Umnoputras ever account to the Malay mass how they acquire such levels of obscene wealth?
Ask any ordinary working (especially urban) Malay on the street and they would laugh at you if you tell them that they enjoy the easy fruits of the NEP (New Economic Policy) and the special privileges that come with them apart from the crumbs that slip through the greasy fat fingers of the Umnoputras, their cronies, friends and family members.
But Umno Baru has a weapon that can satiate and kill any hunger, analytical thinking and drive of the ignorant Malay mass - the politics of race and religion. In that Umno Baru is aided by a ready-made enemy - the Chinese bogeyman.
Headhunter: It’s Umno that has impoverished the Malays. Had all the billions meant to improve their livelihood been properly utilised and not hijacked by a small group of Umnoputras, the average Malays would now be living in comfort instead of scrapping for a living.
Just take a look at the lifestyles of those warlord Malays in power or their cronies and the facts are irrefutable that they are living beyond their means.
Fairnsquare: Still destitute after 58 years of Umno-BN rule? Not very complimentary indeed. Najib should be talking about achievements and future advancement. The real threats to the country are corruption, nepotism and cronyism.
We need to fight this together as Malaysians for the future of our children and grandchildren. We must not let those in power steal the country's wealth and need Umno to come clean on this. But perhaps that is not possible.
Louis: Indeed, give another 50 years of Umno rule, not only Malays will be destitute, all Malaysians will be destitute. With Umno unquenchable thirst for corruption, the country coffer and wealth will dry up in no time.
At the outset of Merdeka, we are the best in education, economy and even in the field of sport in this region. Today, we are sliding far behind countries we use to be better of. Examples are Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Going by this trend, give another 50 years under Umno, countries like Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia will leave us high and dry. By then, our youth will have to ply their trades as maids and labourers in those countries. And will be branded as illegal immigrants there.
Doc: I am so thankful to Najib and Umno for ensuring that every Malay today is not destitute. Great achievement, Umno.
But what really bugs me is that if all the Malays in this country are living so comfortably economically and politically thanks to Umno, then why a significant number of Malays voted Pakatan Rakyat in the recent election, took part in the ‘Free Anwar’ campaign on Saturday and are becoming so vocal against Umno.
It appears to me that the Malays have become ungrateful.
Vijay47: It is astounding that in this day and age Najib can still come out with the tune that without Umno, the Malays and Muslims will be lost.
This may have worked in the past but considering the passion with which Umno itself has been cheating and exploiting the very Malays they are supposed to protect, whatever that means, it is an insult to anyone's intelligence.
Najib, have you not learned even by now that your populist speeches just don't cut the ice anymore? Instead, you come across as a lost bewildered creature hastening towards your self-wrought obliteration. Not even your wife can save you.
Pahatian: I cried and am still crying for Malaysia. Why has 1Malaysia become 1Melayu? What is there in store for the rest, the Chinese, Indians, Dayaks and others, in our own country? Where do we belong?
Basically: I wonder how the world would react if US President Barack Obama were to say, “If I am not president, the blacks will be destitute in America.” Or if George W Bush said the same thing about the whites.
