PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has made good on his promise to declare his assets and he now hopes Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will do the same.

"I advise the prime minister to adopt this method to clear his name, for he has been accused of living beyond his means.

"If he really inherited mass wealth from (his father) former prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein, as claimed by the Prime Minister's Office, then he should detail his assets like I have," he said in a press statement today.

Rafizi said he took up the challenge to declare his assets, which was issued by Cheras Umno division chief Syed Ali Alhabshee to Pakatan Rakyat leaders.

Syed Ali issued the challenge after Pakatan leaders questioned Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's source of wealth, following a report by New York Times that touched on his family's appetite for luxury .

According to the New York Times report, the Prime Minister's Office stated that the source of Najib's wealth came from " received inheritence ".

Rafizi said that if he was able to declare his assets, then it was incumbent upon Najib and his cabinet members to do the same.
