Now PDRM, MACC and AGC will clear 1MDB
YOURSAY ‘This is after cabinet and 160 Umno division leaders cleared 1MDB.’
Najib to be probed by 1MDB special task force
SRMan: A task force comprising members of the police force, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) to probe 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the PM?
But the police only act on reports lodged against the opposition members with lightning speed while complaints against the Umno-BN government are set to gather dust.
The same goes with MACC where cases involving their political masters amounting millions or even billions of ringgit are ignored. But for a trivial case of only RM2,000, someone came plunging down from a building.
And the culprit involved in the death of the poor victim not only went unpunished, he is now heading a state MACC.
The AG is known for the infamous 2008 Batu Puteh case in Johor, where he tried to dupe the International Court of Justice (ICJ) with doctored photographs. And he is still around as the AG instead of being sacked years ago.
Any credibility among any of the above institutions? We think it's an early April Fool's joke. You have us tickled.
Pemerhati: Indeed, what a joke. The present inspector-general of police (IGP) earned his promotion after he impressed the Umno leadership that he could lie blatantly in the Aminulrasyid Amzah shooting case.
The AG earned his stripes when he showed his crookedness when he impressed former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Umno by trying to get S Nalakaruppan to lie about the number of women that Anwar was supposed to have had sex with.
MACC impressed PM Najib Razak and Umno by trying to fix corruption charges on the opposition leaders and which resulted in the tragic death of Teoh Beng Hock and promotions of the wrongdoers.
Kit P: There is a strong case for an outsider, not connected with the government to be brought in to lead the investigation into 1MDB, including Najib's role in the scandal.
There is a tremendous doubt whether the IGP has the independence or integrity to pursue the case to its conclusion.
Wg321: This three-agency taskforce to be set up to probe 1MDB will start off with a big bang. They even claim that they are going to probe Najib.
After probing, nothing will happen just like the case of Teoh Beng Hock’s Royal Commission of Inquiry or the case of Lingam’s Royal Commission of Inquiry.
In a worse-case scenario, if Najib is found to have committed a criminal breach of trust or other offences, who is going to give the green light to prosecute him?
Nothing can be done against him. This is because as prime minister, Najib controls the judiciary, the police, the MACC, the AG, etc.
Most important of all, he has the support of 160 Umno warlords. He also has the Sedition Act to silent the opposition. At the end of the day, this probe is just a ‘sandiwara’ (shadow play).
Magnus: From Sarawak Report : “The documents in our possession show how Jho Low and his team relied on a wide range of key professional advisors, mainly from the UK and the US, to pull off his deal with 1MDB.
“These experts either knowingly engaged in his plan to make the PetroSaudi joint venture a ‘front’ for further deals, or appear to have turned a blind eye to appropriate due diligence.
“All of these businessmen, lawyers, bankers and politicians involved stood to make very large financial gains from their contributions to the 1MDB deal and some will face tough questions after the documents are handed in to the appropriate regulators next week.”
So that's when what Sarawak Report has exposed will be verified as either truth or fiction.
Mushiro: Let this special task force of police, MACC and the AG's Chambers wear red shirts to show that they are united with the 160 Umno division leaders too.
The mere mention of a task force set up to probe 1MDB by the IGP has created a confidence issue in this task force.
Another question: Why the need for a task force when the cabinet and the 160 Umno division leaders have cleared 1MDB of any wrongdoing. Do they need the PDRM, MACC and AG's Chambers to clear 1MDB too?
Clearwater: I think we don't need to waste resources on a three-agency special task force. Just get the Prime Minister's Office to probe their boss.
They have thousands of employees plus a budget of billions of ringgit and will likely come up with similar conclusions as the task force.
Hang Babeuf: Wonderful how the nation's "permanent government" works. It has different components. But they all play the same game together.
They take in one another's dirty washing, including badly soiled underwear. They pee in one another's pockets. Then in unison they say, "Look, see! No mess on the floor! All is squeaky clean. Proven to be so!" Yeah, yeah!

Gordon Gecko: I was watching the Chinese movie ‘I Corrupt All Cops’ on Astro the other day.
At the end of the movie, all the bad cops were removed after the setting up of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, ICAC (similar to MACC). I pray for a similar ending in Malaysia.
