I never took a single sen from Phua, says Zahid

         

Mushiro: Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in support of Paul Phua was a blatant disregard for the country's policy, the police and ethics.

 

Zahid broke all rules and norms just to please lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and gambler Paul Phua and Zahid now uses religion and proclaimed that he knows what is ‘halal’ or ‘haram’.

 

The low-down thing to do is to hide behind Islam when cornered. Islam is between you and Allah. And being the coward that he is, Zahid is also seeking refuge behind other ministers’ support letters.

 

Anonymous#007: Zahid, you missed the point. Paul Phua runs an illegal gambling operation, which means he has the means to move large amounts of cash 'under the radar'.

 

This means transactions would not be recorded by Malaysia's banking system, and that means Bank Negara.

 

The suspicion here is whether anyone in Malaysia had used Phua or his operation to smuggle huge sums of illegally obtained wealth out of the country.

 

Or worse, to finance illegal activities, such as extremism.

 

Luke: Who ask about money changing hands? What we want to know is what our home minister is doing mingling closely with a serial gambler/underworld boss - the type of men he is supposed to send to jail.

 

Tailek: Zahid, it doesn't mean that if everyone jumps a red light, it becomes legal and acceptable to do so. You better think of a better excuse.

This is most absurd and nonsensical statement by a minister, and it really shows the country is becoming more like Zimbabwe each passing day.

 

Patriot1: What is so sad is that until now, Zahid doesn't even understand what he did is wrong. Whether any payment was made is irrelevant.

 

Any communication issued officially by a minister represents the official position of the government. How can the government vouch for a person with known criminal records?

 

Maybe he should spill the beans in Parliament and let the public know the extent of such activities by other ministers.

 

It is indeed very depressing to know the quality and mentality of the minister holding such an important portfolio in the government.

Zahid, that means the letter you wrote is shameful in the first place.

 

Starwars: Zahid, we will come to the other ministers later. Tell us in the first place why you wrote the said letter in support of a gambling kingpin if not for money.

 

Clearly, you are a threat to national security because you have misused your position to sabotage the hard work of the police force.

 

Instead of siding with the police force, you chose to take side of a criminal. No wonder, the rakyat don’t want you to become PM of Malaysia.

 

Real Truth: Have all the ministers lost their moral compass?

 

Zahid is accusing that other ministers have written recommendation letters similar to what he has done and if he reveals them, it would be more scandalous.

 

Zahid, you come clean as you were caught with your pants down because Shafee wanted his client Pual Phua to escape jail in United States.

 

Your letter implies that Paul Phua did or is still engaged in some high-level national security work for Malaysian government which the police are unaware of and who have insisted that Phua has a criminal record.

 

Appum: Zahid, which minister has given a letter of support to an alleged criminal and to a non-citizen stating clearly he was involved in a very sensitive subject, that such a person, of suspected background, has helped in our national security?

 

Can you please name that minister you claimed to have done such things before? If you cannot do that, please resign. You are not fit to be a minister.

 

Limfly: Put simply, Zahid has admitted that his letter in support of a gambler and suspected criminal is "shameful".

 

And not only has he done it but other ministers in the BN government have also done such a shameful thing. Indeed, shame on all of you.

 

Napoleon: From Zahid’s argument, if other Umno ministers steal from the people, he should also steal. So according to Zahid, two wrongs can make a right.

 

And here’s another interesting argument by Zahid: If you don't take any money, then you are innocent.
