So, why talk big during roadshows, Shafee?

YOURSAY 'He should have welcomed the AGM motion as opportunity to clear the air.'

Bar withdraws Shafee motion after injunction

Malaysian 53: Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has chickened out from facing his peers at the Bar Council AGM? Again using his slimy connection in the Umno-controlled courts! Real piece of shit this Shafee is! Without his Umno sidekicks, he is nothing at all! With this track record he wants to be AG! My foot!

Save our Currency: It's just like taking a court order against your family when you can't face them. You can organise road shows to tell the ill- informed, but not your fraternity. Where is the professionalism?

Mushiro: If Shafee took an injunction at the last minute, i.e. Friday evening before the Bar meeting is to sit on Saturday, isn't this a misuse of the court process?

Shouldn't the court also discuss, with the Bar Council, before making a decision on the injunction? It gives one the impression that the court and the judge were in cahoots with Shafee.

Mob1900: The Battle of the Bar Council has begun. Don't let the last bastion of law and the constitution be usurped by Umno's horde named G100.

Ferdtan: There is more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak. Lawyers are innovative; they are good at circumventing a court injunction, so don’t let this legal restraint be the stumbling block to censure the lamentable action of one of its members.

One way would have been to propose to discuss the issue under “others matters” at the Bar Council annual general meeting (AGM), without mentioning names, and raise the requirement of good conduct and duties of a lawyer in general terms. Is it still legal?

SultanMydin: The judge who allowed the injunction submitted at the eleventh hour must be scared stiff of this appointed public prosecutor in the just-concluded sodomy case facing her. The RM1,000 fee that Nancy Shukri said was given to Shafee must have changed hands.

Fair&Just: This guy talked so great during the roadshows after the Federal Court ruling on Anwar Ibrahim, while Anwar was not around to defend himself.

But when he was to be confronted by all his peers at their AGM, the fellow true colour emerged - black with streaks of yellow, a coward and using the court to prevent the motion on his vile act. It actually confirms this fellow is a coward and only slanders others when they are unable to confront him.

Pahatian: The truth not only hurts but can be damning. He is now untouchable and showing his true fellow colours. A low-down and despicable being.

FBNUMNO: Bar Council at inter-parte hearing should challenge the injunction, then we will see who is independent.

Retnam: If this guy becomes the attorney-general, Paul Phua will become security chief of the country.

Firestone: Shafee should have welcomed the AGM motion as the opportunity to "clear the air" on the allegations, but perhaps he might know better. Why he is afraid to grab that opportunity... scared?

Basically: That's nice. Next time someone wants to stop something discussed at an AGM, just get an injunction. Another point scored for Transparency Minister

Hmmmmmmmm: The Bar Council should challenge that court ex-parte decision and bring the case into the open. So, if the Bar Council cannot discuss it in their AGM, they can discuss that in court.

Tok Karut: This will, of course, go down in history of the Bar as the lawyer frightened off his wits when faced by his peers. Long memories at the Bar with senior lawyers ready to share history and collective memory.

Armageddon: Shafee, why be afraid if you have done nothing wrong?

4Malaysia: ‘Siapa makan cili tahu pedas’ (Those who are in the wrong will know). Shafee knew he's going to get totally hammered and humiliated, maybe even dis-barred, with this motion.

Nil: Karma! Divine intervention! We will just have to wait and see...

Mr KJ John: Surely, the Bar Council stands for truth. Did or did Shafee not do wrong, premised upon the Bar Council Code of Ethics? I expect more from the Bar, which is enacted by law to earn our respect!

Korkor: What a pity? One guy can just stop the whole Bar. In Malaysia, everything boleh and this is the ruts we are in. Mind you, maybe the next attorney-general is here and he will show his fangs and get all those who tried to go against him. He will get them to go down on their knees to plead for mercy. Oh... so disgusting!

Vgeorgemy: As believers of rule of law, this is a fair decision, even though interested parties never believed such concept.

OH YA?: The Bar Council should not be clowned and should fight the case all the way. Society should be rid of rogues, whoever they are, lawyers or otherwise.

Appum: If he is such a terror counsel why doesn't he have the b***s to face his colleagues? Coward, pariah is the term best describes such characters.
