PKR has slammed Umno-linked lawyer Shafee Abdullah for practising double standards in handling criticism after he stopped the Malaysian Bar from discussing his conduct by filing an ex-parte injunction recently.

 

Shafee obtained the injunction to stop the lawyers' body from discussing his conduct post Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy conviction, in which he was lead prosecutor. 

 

Shafee had gone on nationwide roadshows, revealing explicit details of Anwar's alleged sodomy tryst and making personal attacks against Anwar's character. 

 

PKR youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said that while Shafee could criticise others, he seemed averse to being criticised. 

 

"It is unfortunate that Shafee – having previously boasted his prowess as a prosecutor in the Sodomy II case and hurling further vilifications on a convicted man – is unable to handle the pressure of being questioned for his conduct," Nik Nazmi ( right ) said in a statement today.

 

"Perhaps it is Shafee himself who would have “fainted” had he been questioned," he asserted, referring to Shafee's previous claim that Anwar would have 'fainted' if the latter took the witness stand to be cross examined by Shafee in the sodomy trial.

 

"The fact that he was the prosecutor in the case and had went to great lengths to further exonerate and vilify the character of Anwar Ibrahim after the closure of the case, is unprecedented in the history of our justice system," Nik Nazmi maintained.
