Bar Council egg on G100's face
YOURSAY ‘They don't know difference between ‘prosecution and ‘persecution’.’
Bid to censure Bar chief overwhelmingly defeated
Gerard Lourdesamy:
I was at the Bar Council AGM (annual general meeting) on Saturday and I can tell you for a fact that G100's Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, if he was present as mentioned by this news report, did not even dare to open his mouth to address the members on the motion that he claims to be supporting.
He was as quiet as a door mouse. After the event, just because he is aligned to the establishment, he wants to become the mouse that roars.
Criticism of a judgment, even of the Federal Court, is not sedition and neither is it an offence under the Penal Code.
People like Abdul Aziz will only be satisfied if we have a Bar Council that is compliant and silent like him.
Well, members of the Bar Council have very loudly told him and his pathetic band of supporters to go hang themselves.
CQ Muar: There goes another one of those ill-bred, so-called ‘learned’ lawyer who insisted on having things his way (dictator), calling themselves G100 with just 161 'yeas'.
Vengeful and vicious, this bad loser, Abdul Aziz, even resorted to threats - worse still, invoking the Sedition Act in hope of nailing outgoing Bar president Christopher Leong.
Behaviour of such kind commonly exists amongst Umnoputras. Fortunately they only represent a small minority, otherwise these pests or roaches will be perpetual threats to society.
Bravo to Leong and the Bar Council for a wise decision - justice has spoken and prevailed.
Vijay47: Abdul Aziz hopes that the police will investigate Leong under the Sedition Act or the Penal Code. I am sure the police will be most willing to do so every time some Umno lackey snaps his fingers.
This rubbish of making unsubstantiated police reports against the opposition or those who criticise the government must stop, even if the police treat such reports with great enthusiasm and glee.
Isn't there some law that states you cannot make false reports against anyone?
These Umno supporters have nothing to lose, they can make report they wish, however false and ludicrous, which subject their victims to undeserved inconvenience, expense, and anxiety, and when it is ascertained that no offence has been committed, the perpetrators are not penalised in any way.
From now on, those who have been wrongly accused must sue their pants off. And as for you, Abdul Aziz, I hope the police investigate your role in the huge shameful losses that MAS incurred. I am sure you will agree.
Isana: Civil society, 2, BN cronies, 0. Two days ago, 60,000 fake signatures were removed from the White House petition and now G100 gets 161 votes against 1,194.
Abdul Aziz, next time if you want to win, cheat lah .
Oh Ya?: Fortunately, the Bar Council is still standing tall when all other so-called independent institutions have fallen. And Leong is standing tall too.
He has played the game within its rules, unlike a certain rogue lawyer who has resorted to an injunction to stop scrutiny of his alleged misconduct and unethical act.
And for Abdul Aziz and the G100, they are clones of the ruling elite.
Whenever defeated within the clear rules of the game that are set by no others other than them, they would not accept it and would fall back on authoritative measures, which are repugnant in this modern era.
Justice Pao: No wonder the group is called G100 because they are the minority. I’m glad that the majority in the Bar Council is ethical and adheres to the laws and constitution of Malaysia without bias, unlike these group of Umno lawyers.
Truth1: Bloody ’ell! These guys (and gals) really grew so fast and big, man - from G100 to G161. I'm really, really scared now!
Rupert16: This is a good reflection of people's perception on the poor state of our judiciary system - and how politicians in power are abusing and manipulating the judiciary.
Tok Karut: Only "lawyers with practising certificates" are allowed to attend the Bar Council AGM.
This is a good move against G100. If they continue to be obstinate and do a zillion more press conferences, sue their socks off.
Shibboleth: In all likelihood, these G100 will set up a Muslim or Umno Lawyers Association to rival the Bar Council.
Then it will be deja vu ala 1980s, when none other than Zaid Ibrahim formed the Muslim Lawyers Association when he disagreed with the Bar Council chairman.
Shanandoah: How sad these G100 lawyers don't know the difference between ‘prosecution’ and ‘persecution’.
Any primary school kid proficient in English will laugh at their ignorance of the English language. Yet they are in practice to fool the public by promoting themselves as 'highly learners' practitioners of the law.
The public has a right to know who these fellows are when seeking legal advice. Their qualifications and where they obtained them will be most helpful.
Peter Parker: Can someone please help me by providing all the names of the G100 in case next time when I need legal advice, I don't have to waste my time and my money.
