Penang MCA Youth chief Michael Lee Beng San has denied claims he was the purported administrator of a Facebook fan page which aims to promote state DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow as the next Penang chief minister.

Lee questioned the timing of allegations by DAP Socialist Youth today which blamed him running the fake Facebook page.

Dapsy organising secretary Lee Chin Chen at a press conference showed screenshots of Lee allegedly being the administrator of the fake page.

It was DAP's critics that said the page was set up by a disgruntled DAP veteran who supports Chow.

Michael Lee said DAP should instead focus on its ally's PAS plan to table the amendments to the controversial hudud law at the Kelantan legislative assembly tomorrow.

"DAP is trying to divert the attention of the public from the hudud law by blaming MCA for this fake FB page. I have nothing to do with that Facebook page as someone used my profile photo and name to run the page," he told a press conference in Penang today.

Michael Lee said he will be lodging a police report on the matter. He said he will also be lodging another police against DAP leader Hew Kuan Yau for threatening to assault him over the fake Facebook account.

'Emulate Chua Soi Lek'

Michael Lee said Facebook pages are easily set up to fake particularly if one was familiar with the rules and procedures. To prove his point, he showed reporters a fake Facebook page with DAP Tanjong MP Ng Wei Aik's name shown as the administrator.

"Dont try to fool people. It is just too much," said Michael Lee

Lee also challenged DAP to reveal the identity of the person who sent them the screenshots of his name on the fake Chow Facebook page.

Ng Wei Aik blamed Chin Chen for trying to set up another account of himself after he quit at administrator of the Chow's fake page.

"I want him to admit his role in this fake page by emulating the bravery of former MCA president Chua Soi Lek ( right )," Ng told Malaysiakini .

Chua, also former Health Minister, had admitted being involved in a sex video in 2008 and had resigned as MCA president.

Ng urged DAP's political enemies to use their real identity to speak out and comment and not hide behind fake Facebook pages.

"We also hope that our party members will not be misled and will unite to ensure the party continues its rule in Penang," Ng added.
