Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has been dared to table a motion in the Dewan Rakyat to criticise Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's leadership.

This follows Tengku Razaleigh's scathing speech against Putrajaya in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday over the state of the country's economy and ongoing political feuds.

The dare was issued by PAS vice-president Husam Musa, who said that the motion would prove that Tengku Razaleigh was walking the talk and was not just full of hot air.

"Will he confine himself to just speeches? Shouldn't the responsibility to fix the country's problems falls on Tengku Razaleigh's shoulders? What action will he take?

"Even if he cannot cary out this patriotic act, I am certain there are many other things he can do with fellow MPs in the interest of country over party," said Husam in a press release today.

Act or be condemned

Alternatively, Husam said Tengku Razaleigh can lend his support for Pakatan Rakyat's motion to censure the inspector-general of police for his recent crackdown on opposition politicians and activists.

"Tengku Razaleigh can also initiate a Parliamentary caucus to scrutinise the country's debt. He can chair the caucus and invite MPs from different parties to participate," said Husam ( right ).

He added if Tengku Razaleigh failed to take any action, then he will be remembered as a traitor to the people and country.

During the debate on the motion of thanks for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's speech, Tengku Razaleigh had urged MPs to transcend party lines to reject proposals that were not in public interest.

He had also said that support letters should be tabled in Parliament, in reference to the government's guarantee letters for 1Malaysia Development Berhad's massive debts.
