A company and two Umno division chiefs in Penang have filed a libel suit with the Kuala Lumpur High Court against news portals The Malaysian Insider ( TMI ) and Malaysiakini .
This is over allegations made against them in a land deal.
Maison Heights Sdn Bhd, along with division chiefs Musa Sheikh Fadzir and Omar Faudzar, also named Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as the first defendant, with the two news portals as the other defendants.
Musa, the Bukit Mertajam Umno division chief, and Omar, who is Bukit Gelugor Umno division chief, filed the suit in their personal capacity.
Also named in the suit are the editor and chief executive officer of TMI Jahabar Sadiq and editor-in-chief of Malaysiakini Steven Gan.
It is believed the suit on Malaysiakini is related to an article put up by the news portal titled 'Umno made profits by selling Malay kampungs' which was published last November.
