1MDB-PetroSaudi emails 'show Jho Low in control'

Magnus: From Sarawak Report - "(Jho) Low’s cristal champagne splashing antics have subsequently, of course, become legendary in the gambling and nightclub hotspots in the world.

 

“This phenomenon was notably recorded by the world’s gossip columns from late October in 2009, when he first starting catching the attention of the celebrity writers in the United States.

 

“In recent years the youthful ‘billionaire tycoon’ has concentrated on building a name for himself as a philanthropist in the West, stating just last week to Forbes Magazine that ‘philanthropy is cool…and good for business and good for PR’.”

 

It seems reasonable, therefore, to ask whether Malaysia’s 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) development money has been channelled towards pleasure and debauchery, as well as good causes in the West, instead of helping the intended poor of the country from whence the money has come?

 

Joe Lee: Sarawak Report and Malaysiakini are doing a great job.

 

This extended week-by-week revelations must be inflicting severe pain on all the guilty parties, including those people (like inspector-general of police and the attorney-general) whose job it is to protect their masters.

 

But where is fat boy? We want him to be put on the stage in Central Market, and then have him flogged on his fat behind 100 times for being so naughty in misusing billions from Malaysia's government.

 

Muslim Chang: Media reports have said the parent company had given the PetroSaudi-1MDB joint venture company a US$700 million loan, when 1MDB invested US$1 billion into the venture.

 

1MDB has said the investment had been converted into a loan and had since been fully repaid.

 

Lee Hup: 1MDB's biggest two assets are Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) and Bandar Malaysia but it is planned to be developed over a 15-20 year period.

 

Look at KL Sentral. When it was first developed, people laugh at it and said it was a favour to some cronies and no one wanted to move or rent there.

 

Now, 15 years later, it is a big success and making mega profits for developer MRCB and the government.

 

Swipenter: I remember many years ago, one Umnoputra when asked by reporters on the issue of accountability of some scandal involving him, was quoted as saying "I am responsible but not accountable" for it.

 

Responsible but not accountable? That is a polite way of saying "what can you do about it?"

           

ABS: Sorry if I missed it, but have all the leaked emails been categorically been verified by Sarawak Report, or better still a different party, as authentic?

 

Hmmmmmmmm: ABS, yes, you missed it. The emails have been verified by the very parties themselves by not proclaiming them as fake and taking action to lodge a police report against Sarawak Report .

 

Would anyone dare to accuse the PM, etc, of wrongdoing on the back of fake emails, especially knowing that the judiciary and police are wholly behind him?

 

Can you imagine what would happen if these are fake emails?

Innocent people like Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, who have been insisting on transparency with respect to the disbursement of public funds, may be detained.

This will not happen here. Instead he went shopping for a new jet for himself while the rakyat will soon suffer the Good and Services Tax (GST) to pay for his (G)olfing, (S)hopping and (T)ravels.

 

Discovery: Only in Malaysia can scandals like this happen and the prime minister goes around as if nothing has happen.

 

In Korea, the president would have committed suicide and in Japan, their PM would have done a harakiri.

 

But in Malaysia, our PM orders a new jet, arrest his critics and lobby his party members to show undivided support for him.

 

Sirach: The plot thickens and the noose is getting tighter around the necks of the shadowy culprits.

 

If someone came up with a screenplay like this, no Holllywood studio would back it. It's just too unbelievable.
