Umno Youth smells sabotage in triple fare hikes

 

Patriot1: Umno Youth, how can it be sabotage when it is the government itself that sanctioned the increases?

 

Many government-run or linked transport agencies, for example Rapid, KTM, Transnasional, etc, are saddled with so much alleged malpractices that they can’t survive without increasing fares.                               

 

Kit P: Indeed, the bus, train and taxi operators are all closely linked to the government, one way or another. How can it be sabotage?

 

Internal sabotage, if that is the case, should scare Umno Baru. I think it is more like the reality of Goods and Services Tax (GST) starting to bite. All the propaganda of “GST bagus” (GST is good for you) is pure nonsense.

 

Odin: Well, Umno Youth exco member Ibdilillah Ishak, if it is sabotage, it shows that your accursed political party is self-destructing, for, remember, those responsible for the increase in fares are from it (your own political party).

 

We out here fondly hope that there will be more acts of sabotage.

 

Anonymous#007: Either Umno Youth is sabotaging the government by accusing the government of sabotaging itself - the government gave approval for the fare hikes - or this could be a ‘wayang’ to show that Umno Youth cares about the rakyat and 'successfully' stops the fare hikes. I cannot tell which it is.

 

Nyop101: Umno Youth should stop pretending that they care about the rakyat when it is their leaders who make such decisions.

 

Why don't you organise a protest and call for vote of no confidence in Parliament?

 

If the government refuses to back down, why don't you quit en masse? Until then, the people will only laugh at your hypocrisy.

                                                                                   

Firestone: Taxi fare from Penang Airport to Batu Ferringhi upped from RM69 to RM74. Malindo air ticket from Penang Airport to Subang Airport is only RM39. Think about it.

 

Commentable: In other words, this increment is designed to ‘absorb’ the GST into the public transport system. There are no two ways about it - we can't escape the gut-ripping effect of the GST.

 

Even if something is zero rated or exempted, other goods and services like tyres, spare parts and labour that are required to upkeep the public transport system will attract GST - it cuts across the board.

 

Now the ‘bangangs’ who supported Umno's proposition that GST is good and have accepted it obediently are beginning to see the effects as well as the many ways we, the rakyat, are screwed.

 

Bravo to the 47 percent BN voters, this is another proud moment for them to proclaim “Satu lagi projek Barisan Nasional”.

 

Wira: Today they pass hudud law, tomorrow we get price hikes. How timely. Everyone goes gaga over hudud and few bother about the rising cost of living.

 

Anonymous_3f6d: Twenty-five sen for every 200m, up from 10 sen for every 115m. This is a 43 percent increase. What’s the justification for such a hefty increase?

 

Anonymous #19098644: I don't understand, when fuel prices are high the fares are okay. When fuel prices drop, the fares go up 20 percent. And the government threatens all with punitive action when prices go up.

 

While the PM is enjoying his brand-new half-a-billion ringgit jet, the rakyat have to live with hire transport costs and higher taxes.

 

The Silent Generation: This is a sign of failed government policies. We can expect further hardship to support the lifestyle of the user of the new plane .

J Ng: All the recent price hikes are a real mockery and insult to the rakyat. The title of sleeping PM should now be rightfully withdrawn from Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (Pah Lah) and be given to Najib.
