Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s daughter did not receive US$500,000 as ‘hantaran’ (wedding gift), according to the Federal Territories Islamic Department (Jawi).

 

Jawi director-general Paimuzi Yahya is said to have told a post-cabinet meeting that an image of Nooryana Najwa’s marriage certificate circulating on social media had been doctored.

 

“In a post-cabinet meeting, Paimuzi disclosed that the PM’s daughter’s marriage certificate had been falsified to state that her hantaran was US$500,000,” Malaysian Islamic Dakwah Foundation chairperson Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki posted on Facebook.

 

Asyraf added that Jawi will be taking action against those spreading the doctored certificate.

 

He has urged Jawi to hold a press conference on the matter.

 

Nooryana Najwa was wed to Kazakh national Daniyar Kessikbayev in a ceremony at Seri Perdana on Thursday night.

 

Their wedding reception will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on March 28, and at the Putra World Trade Centre on March 29.
