Manufacturing sales in June surged 22.1 percent year-on-year to RM33.7 billion, official data showed today.

Sales were up 1.2 percent from May, the Statistics Department said in a statement.

In May manufacturing sales rose 19.7 percent year-on-year to RM32.2 billion but were down 2.1 percent month-on-month.

The manufacturing sector had a total of 1.011 million employees at the end of June, up 2.3 percent from last year and 0.1 percent from May.

In the the first half of this year, cumulative manufacturing sales rose 18.7 percent year-on-year to RM192.6 billion.
