The problem is not just Najib, but Umno

YOURSAY ‘Having Najib removed is akin to treating symptoms, not the disease.’

Forcing Najib out is the only way, Dr M told

Kingfisher: The opportunity cost to the nation in this Najib/Umno matrix that is seen as impregnable is frightening.

In the final analysis however Umno will, and by realistic extension the whole nation, bear the brunt of the inadequacies and failings of Najib Razak as Umno leader and PM.

Umno which has held sway over the affairs of the nation since independence has it appears now, considering all the debate and discourse as indicated by veteran journalist A Kadir Jasin, abdicated its moral persuasion to deride and immobilise an individual while upholding the sanctity the party and the well-being of the nation.

The "decline" of a pre-eminent party which was once held in high esteem and trust by all Malaysians and considered very civil, brave, progressive is due to greed, indulgence and arrogance of its own rank and file and leadership.

And this is most sad and unfortunate for a new nation with so much promise. The maxim for Umno should be that no one individual is above the welfare of the party and the whole nation.

Swipenter: Every Umno president and PM of Malaysia after Abdul Razak Hussein are allegedly guilty of huge financial scandals and mega corruption that have far reaching financial implications and consequences to the well-being of Malaysians and Bolehland.

The logic put forward by Kadir to have Najib removed is akin to treating the symptoms and not the disease.

The cure lies in kicking the Umno Baru/BN regime out of Putrajaya and replace it with the Pakatan Rakyat the only alternative available now, so that the country has a fresh start/chance to heal itself from corruption, misgovernance, extremism of all kinds and deliberate fostered disunity/polarisation within our plural, multiracial and multicultural society through divide and rule tactics and policies.

Don't give up hope that we cannot have a new and different administration come GE14. Every vote counts.

Mushiro: This monster created by Dr Mahathir Mohamad has outgrown his expectations. It is made worse by the voracious appetite of Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, and the castrated Umno leaders who are tied to the gravy train.

Umno leaders are too comfortable and too scared to want to throw Najib and Rosmah out. A rigged and gerrymandered GE will not be able to dislodge Umno.

The compliant judiciary, police, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and other government agencies are a waste of time. Only when the people start revolting because of rising cost will there be a chance of a change.

Onepen: Elections are held to elect a person to an office. After that you let the elected person do his/her job.

The losers and their supporters should either support or refrain from supporting the elected leader. However, some people take pleasure in bringing down leaders for some unknown reasons.

Najib may not be the best leader but at least during his time he gave pay rise to government servants, gave 2% increment to pensioners and Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M).

At least, the so-called sleeping Abdullah Ahmad Badawi gave us back our freedom to comment and dissent. He is keeping quiet like all good losers. I love him for this.

By saying all these, does it sounds I love the current leadership? I’m still thinking and watching while PAS is waving the hudud flag.

Trublumalaysian: "As of now, Kadir said, the only way to dislodge Najib would be through the Umno supreme council - but the party president has a firm grip on it."

This is exactly the very reason why Umno should be obliterated. Why should they be the only ones to decide on the country’s fate with MIC/MCA and a whole bunch of hangers-on, ready to do their bidding?

Unspin: One way to get rid of this cancer is to do what Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim failed to do on Sept 16 - with a twist.

Umno moderates got to do it themselves with the help of Pakatan Rakyat and those from East Malaysia.

It’s not democratic, but it is the only way to save our country from going down the slippery slop to a failed state.

JD Lovrenciear: Nothing is impossible if we all truly have the nation's future well-being at heart with no secret self-interest agenda hidden at the back of our hands.

Mahathir, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Daim Zainuddin, together with sincere politicians from all sides of the divide, must rise to stand up for this nation, Agong and rakyat.

Otherwise we are all guilty of betraying the Malaysian flag and honour.

Sirach: Why force him out? Let him stay on till GE 14 and Malaysians may then decide that enough is enough.

It’s about time we matured as a democracy and the stranglehold on power of Umno Baru is consigned to history.
