YOURSAY 'How dare Ismail Sabri say it is 'only' a Muslim issue?'

Umno to MCA, Gerakan: Butt out of hudud

Casey919: Agriculture Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob was reported yesterday telling Gerakan and MCA not to interfere with the hudud implementation because matters concerning Islam “had nothing to do with them”.

Does this mean they can abstain from voting or if they vote like you, they are considered as 'dogs' serving the master?

The Analyser: Clever move, Umno. Make it look like you are pro-hudud to soothe the non-thinking Muslims, but do nothing about implementing hudud to soothe the thinking Muslims. Then tell the non-Muslims to butt out because hudud has nothing to do with them.

You win on every count, except that you have overlooked the fact that the hudud debate is all about ignorance versus compassion, and has nothing to do with religion. Religion is just the excuse to cover ignorance.

Dont Just Talk: It was only yesterday that all BN leaders swore allegiance to Prime Minister Najib Razak's 1Malaysia and today, Ismail Sabri tells MCA president Liow Tiong Lai and Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong to butt out.

As for MIC, it will 'see nothing, hear nothing and say nothing'.

Debater: So what will MCA and Gerakan do? Just put their tails behind their legs and whimper given that the master has taken out the stick and threatened them?

Smer: Hudud is a matter involving the whole country and even Parliament. How dare Ismail Sabri say it is 'only' a Muslim issue?

Plus with all the religious issues of late (unilateral conversions), it definitely involves non-Muslims as well.

The Reaper: The issue over the use of ‘Allah’ in Malay bible is one case where authorities have interfered with non-Muslim affairs, so what is he talking about? And that's all over just one word!

Well Thats Fantastic: I guess Ismail forgets that MCA and Gerakan represent Muslim voters as well. This proves that politics is all about the politician and never about the people, though doesn't it?

Why was such an important decision not put to a referendum? How can it be respected by everyone when it is forced upon us all by these few?

AkuMelayu-Tetapi ABU Jugak : Gerakan's Baljit Singh, remember not too long ago in the past when Penang Umno stomped on your previous dear leader Koh Tsu Koon's photo?

Yet, you guys are still around doing the same thing (that is, stroking your political master Umno) time and again.

A wise man (Albert Einstein) once said, the height of insanity is doing the same thing again and again, yet expecting a different result each time.

Pputeh: "Gerakan's national legal and human rights bureau chief Baljit Singh yesterday urged DAP's two Muslim MPs and PKR's 16 to make a clear stand if they would vote for the hudud bill if the matter is tabled in Parliament."

Baljit, why are you going after DAP? Look at your own backyard and your comrade-in-arms Umno, who voted for the hudud bill in the Kelantan. No smokescreen, please. What is sauce for the goose is also for the gander.

Kawak: MCA and Gerakan have been reduced to mosquito political parties and become irrelevant due to Umno's race rhetoric over the years. Yet they are pointing fingers at DAP for their failure. When are they going to wake up?

Apapunboleh: Baljit, ask your chief Mah how he would vote if the hudud bill goes to Parliament, before asking DAP. Your boss just showed support for 1Malaysia Najib a few days ago.

Mosquitobrain: Ismail Sabri is no better than Cheras Umno's Syed Ali Alhabshee. The latter hits straight. Ismail Sabri twists. Both have forgotten that they were the ones who had to 'beg' for Chinese, Indian and Malay support in GE13.

Anonymous_1419577444: To MCA and Gerakan leaders, there may not be any more dignity to salvage for yourselves, but at least try to spare your family members and your descendants of such indignities.

You can have all the power and money that come with your positions but these will be meaningless if you have to watch them hang their heads with shame when they face the public. Do the right thing for their sake.

Anonymous_1388029052: All BN component parties should now consider leaving BN if their ‘taikor’ Umno support hudud.

This is especially so for parties in Sabah and Sarawak because in the Malaysia Agreement of 1963, there was no mention of hudud at all.

Sabahans and Sarawakians, please wake up - both of you have been betrayed by Umno.
