PKR has challenged the BN component parties to ‘disband’ if they do not get a proper written objection to hudud from their main Umno leaders mainly Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin.

 

PKR Vice President Rafizi Ramli noted despite the contradicting statements made by component party presidents like MCA chief Liow Tiong Lai and others , Najib has not said anything on the issue yet.  

 

“If all the presidents of the BN component parties fail in getting Najib’s and Umno’s stand by Tuesday, it would be more honorable if they disband their respective parties because it is evident that they have been bullied and sidelined by Umno in this hudud masquerade.

 

“I challenge all the component party presidents to state their objection to the private members bill and get a written stand from Najib ( left ) or Muhyiddin as soon as possible” Rafizi said in a statement today.

 

Rafizi also suggested that Umno’s silence on the issue also shows that the BN component parties “no longer hold value” especially when compared to the cooperation between Umno and PAS on the hudud matter.

 

He also criticised Umno for using the hudud to split Pakatan by simply prolonging the issue.

 

“This is the farce used by Umno. The private members bill that the PAS president wants to bring up can only be tabled with the agreement of Najib. Even if the bill is brought to Parliament, it can only be passed if all 88 Umno MPs vote for it,” Rafizi explained.

 

The PAS-led Kelantan government ruled in favour of implementing hudud laws there on Thursday.

 

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is expected to table a private members bill on hudud in the current sitting at Parliament.
